Jessica Davenport and Troy Smith were named the Ohio State athletes of the year in an announcement from the athletics department.

Davenport finished her women's basketball career as the program's first three-time All-American.

Troy Smith, a quarterback, led the Buckeyes to the national championship game and was named Ohio State's seventh Heisman Trophy winner.

• Senior-to-be DJ Bucher and incoming freshman Sean Regan of the Ohio State men's gymnastics team have qualified for the 2007 Visa Championships, which will take place Aug. 15-18 in San Jose, Calif.

Bucher posted three top 10 finishes -- pommel horse (seventh), rings (sixth) and parallel bars (fourth) -- at the U.S. men's national qualifier Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo. Regan finished 16th in the all-around.
