Most draft experts feel LSU QB JaMarcus Russell will be first player off the board with the Oakland Raiders in need of a franchise QB. (AI Wire)

To get you prepared for the BodogLIVE NFL Draft we’re gonna count you down to draft day by giving you the 411 on the top players at their position. Today, we’re previewing a position that has two potential superstars at the top, and a lot of speculation from then on - the quaterback:
TOP 5 QUARTERBACKS
1. Brady Quinn, Notre Dame - 6-4, 227: Poised, polished but lacks ideal arm strength and couldn’t win the "big games" in college. Some would use the two negatives to drop Brady Quinn down draft boards. However, QBs that came into the NFL with some of the same negatives (Peyton Manning, Tom Brady) seem to have faired pretty well.
2. JaMarcus Russell, LSU - 6-5, 256: With his overwhelming physical abilities JaMarcus Russell made it rain TDs for the Tigers. He had 3,129 passing yards and 28 touchdowns in his final season and his long passes can consistently go 60 yards and he’ll take the pigskin 80-plus if called upon. If reaches his potential, JaMarcus Russell could be the most imposing QB in the NFL for years to come, however, he does have work ethic and consistency issues that could put a lid on his progress.
3. Trent Edwards, Stanford: Edwards has the intelligence, size (6-3, 222 pounds) and solid throwing mechanics to be a starter at the pro level. However his durability is an issue as he missed time at Stanford in three out of four years.
4. Drew Stanton, Michigan State: Problems with poise and mental toughness; however his solid scrambling and running ability coupled with his accuracy and football intelligence could translate well for a team shopping for a second or third round QB.
5. Troy Smith, Ohio State: Lacks height (6-0) and Vick-like speed to be considered a first-round scrambler. But if he can overcome his short stature he could become a starter in the NFL.
